Marketing using Variable Data Printing

July 2nd, 2008

The term VDP (Variable Data Printing) is quite alien to me.

I learned about VDP through the digital printing business development program I recently attended.  Like any other new things, you are always excited to try it out and experience it yourself.  But the big question is, will it work.

Large format printing tarpaulin weight explained

June 11th, 2008

Have you ever wonder why Coke is measured in ounce or oz.? I’m sure you’ve heard about the popular 8 oz. Coke and his small bro, 5 oz. I never really minded the figures in the bottle (and the calories count) especially after a lunch buffet.

In Graphicstar, you can talk English or Metric. Part II

March 8th, 2008

I’ll start the Part II with a question. What is the size of a bond paper?
Most of us would answer 8.5 x 11 inches and some would probably look around and show you a bond paper since you can almost see it anywhere. You are correct, bond paper or Letter-sized paper is 8.5 x 11 inches where the term bond, originally came from commonly used document such as government bonds. A Tabloid is a combination of two Letters which would equal to 11 x 17 inches. This is basically the size of a Tabloid newspaper.

I was born in the world of English measurement.

So what is the difference and how can it bother me in my day-to-day dealings?

Digital Artist and Large Format Printing

January 21st, 2008

I remember the time when billboards were hand painted and you can only imagine how the canvass artist would transform its artwork into a mega sized ad along highways. It is quite amazing and puzzling in a way to see how they did it then. Now, we have digital artists in the comfort of air conditioned work areas, aided by intelligent application software and backed by mammoth sized solvent based large format tarpaulin printers.

Reminiscing lifetime memories digitally

November 28th, 2007

When was the last time you loaded a film into your camera? When was your last you visited to a photo lab to have your film developed?
For most of the techno buff out there, the answers to these questions are quite a history already. And because of digicam’s slick and stylish designs available in different configuration, we tend to merge it with our outfit and it becomes part of our fashion statement.

Welcome to the new Graphicstar Website

November 27th, 2007

Hi,

I am very excited in what we can offer you through this portal. Although it is not yet 100% fully functional, let me guide you through it anyway. There are 3 major interests in this area; one is the Blog, then the Product Info and the Store section. Of course there are a lot more to your delight but lets focus on the 3 major interest so you may know how it can support you.

The Blog section. In this section you will find interesting articles about digital printing and how to make it work to your advantage. I’ll also be discussing about DTP and the different technology that evolves within the printing industry. The good thing about it is you can shoot question, comment on the topic and write just about anything you can think off.

The Product Info section is very important especially those who do not know the different material available in the market related to sign making, large format printing and digital printing. I’ll be featuring case studies, product application and limitation. It’ll be a good reference for those planning to come up with ad promotions.

The Store section. Statistics will show that presently, Filipinos are still apprehensive in buying stuff on line. I can’t blame you because I’m one of those. What I can assure you is that we have designed it in the most simplified process so as not to confuse you and make it complicated to place a simple order. This is one of the reasons why we didn’t include all the products to be available on-line. We want you to take advantage of ordering your streamers, banners, brochures, call cards, posters and more. Did I mention that you’ll get price lower than ordering over the counter? Not to mention that it’ll be delivered to your doorstep while you do other tasks. What more can you ask for?

The site should be fully functional in the next couple of months. The blog section where I’m welcoming everybody is up and ready. I hope this would be a great avenue for us to develop and take advantage of the information technology where we are living today.

Thanks to the MIS department and the rest of the developers of Graphicstar.com.ph. More power.

Albert
